St. Matthias Anglican Community
Owen is the music director for St. Matthias Anglican Community in Guelph, Ontario. St. Matt's is a unique congregation in the Diocese of Niagara that explores unconventional and multifaceted ways of modern worship. The congregants have a multitude of theological beliefs and these are reflected in the weekly liturgy. The music is extremely important in this aspect and the language and stylings of the music help reflect the congregation. Instrumentation at the 11:30 A.M. Sunday service includes digital piano, acoustic guitar and violin with occasional percussion (djembe, tambourine and maracas).
Comprised of Marion Samuel-Stevens, soprano, Owen Bloomfield, composer, Tilly Kooyman, clarinetist and Rae Crossman, poet, SlanT performs original works that are inspired by the natural world and the meeting points of Canada's diverse cultural make up. The artists in this interdisciplinary ensemble each bring a different approach to their projects and work together collaboratively to create unique and memorable performances.
