Flash of Light: New Music for Flute Solo and Duet
Monday, December 16, 2019 6PM-8PM
Idea Exchange, Queen's Square, Cambridge
This is a workshop/performance of my four new pieces for flute; flute alone, flute with piano, duet, and duet with piano. During the workshop I will be working with the performers on the compositional details of the pieces and ironing out any issues. It is open to the public and there is no charge. This is a great opportunity to see new music being created.
This project has been assisted by flutists Kelly Williamson and Dr. Laurel Swinden, students from their respective studios, and the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund.
The image below will be on the front cover of a special printing of the collection. It was created by my daughter Eloise.
A brand new and unique project I have been working on will be presented at the Bridging Communities Through Song event on March 24, 2019 at Knox Church in Waterloo, Ontario. This is a joint venture between Mino Ode Kwewak N'Gamawak, Inshallah Singers, Rae Crossman and me. Please see my blog post about the creative process involved.
I am pleased to announce a new grant from the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund! It will help finance the composition of a new set of flute pieces for solo, duet and works with piano. They will be written in consultation with Kelly Williamson and Dr. Laurel Swinden. Look for a performance in the Fall.
